  Review:

“Devara” has emerged as a cinematic juggernaut, showcasing N.T. Rama Rao Jr.’s triumphant return as a solo hero after six years. Directed and written by Koratala Siva, the film unfolds an epic narrative set against stunning coastal landscapes, blending intense action with emotionally charged moments.

The film opened on September 27 to sky-high expectations, launching with an impressive ₹82.5 crore domestically and ₹172 crore globally. By the end of its opening weekend, “Devara” amassed a staggering ₹304 crore.”

N.T. Rama Rao Jr. shines in the titular role, embodying a fearless rescuer battling evildoers. His performance is layered and engaging, capturing the audience’s attention throughout. Saif Ali Khan delivers a compelling portrayal of the antagonist, while Janhvi Kapoor brings freshness and strength to her character, making for a well-rounded cast.

The film excels in its action sequences, masterfully choreographed to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Koratala Siva’s direction effectively balances thrilling moments with heartfelt storytelling, ensuring that the narrative remains compelling. The cinematography beautifully captures the coastal backdrop, adding depth to the film's visual appeal.

Devara Part 1 domestic box office collection On Sunday, the collections of the film in India was a shade higher than Saturday, as the film minted around Rs 40.3 crore on Day 3 of its release. The Day 2 collections were Rs 38.5 crores in the domestic market taking the global tally to a whopping Rs 243 crores. Devara already managed to beat the likes of Stree 2 to receive the second biggest opening for an Indian film in 2024. The top place is held by Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD.

Although the Day 2 and Day 3 numbers are a solid 50 percent drop from the Day 1 numbers that gave the film a Rs 82.5 crore opening, it is to be noted that Devara had special screenings from 1 am on Day 1. The increased number of shows on Day 1 resulted in the massive opening, and it is impressive that the Sunday held on strong after the Saturday showing. This is the trend the makers of Devara would hope continues on the first Monday, which is often considered the litmus test for any film. But it is clear that the film will comfortably sail past the Rs 300 crore mark globally on Day 3.

Devara Part 1 Hindi box office collection Another highlight of Devara’s run is the impact of the Hindi version of the film in the collections. From the Rs 161 crores Devara has amassed in three days of run in the domestic market, the Hindi version has contributed a solid 16 percent of collection. The best part is the numbers have steadily increased from Rs 7.5 crore on Day 1 to Rs 9 crore on Day 2, and an impressive Rs 11 crores on Day 3. This is seen as the result of RRR’s immense reach, the Hindi versions of Jr NTR’s previous films being massive successes on the television circuit, and the extensive promotions done by the cast of Devara, including the Telugu superstar, Saif Ali Khan, and Jahnvi Kapoor in the Hindi belt. The numbers from the Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam have been steady too, and it once again boils down to the promotional activities of Jr NTR and co, who went all out in promoting the films in these states.

Devara Part 1 biggest success for Jr NTR, Koratala Siva combo Devara has already be come the biggest success in the careers of Jr NTR (as a solo hero) and director Koratala Siva, and the stage is set for their reunion in the sequel. It is to be seen whether Devara will go the Pushpa and KGF route, and start filming the Part 2 soon
